The setting is of Lake Nemi, just south of Rome, Italy. The figures are held in suspense (as we are) at the stillness of the late afternoon atmosphere and the delicate swirls of butterflies embracing them. This is a landscape that can be deeply meaningful and poetic and may represent the end of our journey but more likely a new beginning.
